Reception Guidelines

Upon entering the main reception are follow these instructions:

Greet the Mistress first. Approach, stop a meter away, kneel (bow if you are unable to kneel), say "I am humbled by the blessings, and awed by the presence of you, Lady of the House", rise but keep your head bowed, and do not turn your back on her until you must. NB. If the Mistress rises from her seat, all who are capable must stand as well until she sits again, leaves the room, or gives everyone leave to sit.
Greet the Archon secondly. Approach, stop a meter away, kneel (bow if you are unable to kneel), say "I honour and respect the blood and stone of the dragon", rise, and do not turn your back on him until you must.
You will then be able to greet the new Bride and Groom.
Assigned seating will be provided before entering the room, please ask a servant for help if you need any.

Leaving: It is considered rude to leave the event before the Mistress. If you must leave before she has, ensure that you go to her, thank her, and apologise for leaving before you go.

Gifts: Guests may bring gifts for the goddess instead of the couple.

Almost as soon as the translator has been fixed Viatorus sends a message to Adia. Their planned meeting gave him plenty to do while he waited, plenty to think about to prepare himself to try and give the best explanation of things that he could. But by the time the translator is back he's relieved to be able to arrange a meeting to finally talk about it.

There are a few changes to Viatorus' office. The most immediate difference is the mirrors placed in the front door around a newly made circular pattern. The door swings open seconds after the sound of a knock to reveal Viatorus dressed smartly in tweed. Inside is still much the same with fresh flowers and bundles of herbs hung over doorways. Lyall sits on one of the couches, flipping idly through a magazine.

Viatorus opens an arm to gesture for her to go through to his study. "Hello Adia! Would you like a drink? Shall I take your coat for you?"

It's been far too long since his first consultation with Naugus. Viatorus should have gotten back to the mage long before now, but as with most things in the Nexus, it hadn't gone as smoothly as he'd hoped. Between personal interruptions, seasonal distractions, and wrestling with what to do with his knowledge, the few days he'd asked for had turned into months. Not how he'd hoped for it to go, but in this case Naugus' exceedingly low expectations of him work in his favour.

When he arrives at Naugus' door he's adjusted the strap of his leather satchel countless times, straightened his tweed jacket several more, and hesitated over whether or not he's forgotten something. Anything at all. The strict eye of his high heeled shadow keeps him in check. Isidor insisted on accompanying him in this case. Too much possibility of trouble, she'd said. Something she couldn't happily allow Lyall to take care of.

With the weight of the forthcoming debriefing doubled, Viatorus knocks on the door and shuffles on the spot. "Naugus? It's Viatorus."

A letter for miss Verity Willis

The envelope and letter are both extremely high quality paper, champagne in colour and rich to the touch. It seems almost odd then that it is otherwise so simple. Viatorus had spent far longer than he should have needed to, to try and find stationary on hand that didn't proudly display the family crest on every page. No, this... this was just him. A full envelope containing several pages of his best intentions.

Unlike all his other writing, he has clearly made a valiant effort to write beautifully and consistently, despite his habit of scrawling, rapidly changing handwriting. There was time put into this. And care. The last dregs of a currently exhausted man to bridge a gap of misunderstanding and miscommunication. Talking hadn't worked. Perhaps a letter would.

It had been a stressful week. Between pressures to work harder in this new year, talk of engagements, and arguments with his closest friend... Viatorus was exhausted. Emotionally more than physically, but the effect was much the same. He was grateful, then, to have some relief from it all in the form of a movie night. Movies don't require much focus, all a person has to do is sit back and enjoy. Chocolates and wine were an added bonus. The company of a good friend turned it from some sad and sorry sight into a happy escape. Something to take him out of the grim thoughts that had been plaguing him.

He's a little scruffy when he arrives at Amelia's door. His collar is a little crooked from having a jumper pulled over it, and his hair is messy, but he looks incredibly glad to be coming to meet her. The light tune is rapped out on her door and then he folds his hands behind his back and waits.

It is with great reluctance that Viatorus takes up his PINpoint in one hand and his phone in the other. He had been desperately hoping that he could avoid going home at all. Had everything worked out perfectly, he would be back in his own body before Isidor even suspected a thing... That... was not going to work. He needed her help, and this curse was not wearing off like he'd planned. Being in another form in a dream is one thing. Being in someone else's physical body while watching his own walk around... is entirely different.

After sending a quick text to Isidor before he chickened out, Viatorus gathered Steve and Harrowheart together. "Alright. Let's go and see if we can find something to fix this."

He PINpoints them to his London apartment. This is decidedly larger and more spacious than the one they just came from. The living room stretches out and the theme of classic creams, woods and warm colours dominates the apartment. The room is flanked by bookcases, a fireplace in the centre and a large television that's currently off. It looks like something out a magazine, perfectly manicured and tidy.

"Should I order you guys some food or shall we wait? We'll probably be going to the manor anyway, after Isidor meets us here."

For want of a neutral starting point, Viatorus suggested that they begin their ~~playdate~~ meet up at a café he'd spotted on his travels. He was tempted to get a cup of akh while he waited, but settled on a good cup of tea instead. Something familiar and calming. At one point he tries crossing his legs, but his restlessness made his foot jitter so he sat on the edge of his chair, careful not to bump the leather satchel by his feet - of course he has a leather satchel, how could he possibly be a caricature of a British scholar without one?

This man knows Verity, he reminds himself, and Verity wouldn't be friends with anyone bad or immoral or any such thing. It's a small, flawed comfort, but he clings onto it and tries to relax while he keeps his eye open for Steve. The way his fingers are drumming against his cup suggest he's not doing the best job of that.

As with most things Viatorus does, the arrangements for tea had been worked through carefully. He'd made sure he had everything he could possibly need, and even sourced a nearby bakery for any dire emergencies that might arise. Naturally, once all his plans had been made and everything put in order, his anxious jittering had nothing to focus on except getting ready and picking up Verity.

He'd made an attempt to tidy up his hair and wear a nice shirt- but not too nice. This socialising business was a tricky thing. Now all he had to was meet up with Verity. Naugus' tower was the sensible place to agree to meet. It was easy enough to locate and Verity was there anyway. So, after briefly stopping to pet the chaos, he'll head to the tower door and, if she's not outside, he'll knock.
